About the airport

Gorno-Altaysk Airport is a federal airport and the gateway to one of Russia’s most popular tourist destinations, Gorny Altai.

The airport began its operations in 1968 and has gone through various periods in its history. In 2024, Gorno-Altaysk Airport joined the Sber Group, starting a new phase of modernization and development. Today, the air hub of Gorny Altai continues its rapid growth for the benefit of the region’s and the country’s residents.

We meet and see off more than 500,000 passengers per year. We provide services to 9 airlines and offer 13 flight destinations. We accept more than 30 aircraft modifications and all types of helicopters.

Air gateway of the Altai Republic

Today, the Altai Republic is becoming a fast growing tourist zone, with its airport being an integral part of the tourist infrastructure, as, among other things, Gorno-Altaysk lacks a railroad connection. Our airport offers easy access to the all-season resort of Manzherok, the resort town of Belokurikha and the Turquoise Katun special economic zone. At a distance of 8 km from Gorno-Altaysk Airport, construction is underway on another special economic zone—the Altai Valley. The Aya Health Resort is 10 km away.

Airport development

The Altai Mountains are becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, and passenger traffic already exceeds the design capacity of the current terminal. We are upgrading the infrastructure, modernizing the existing terminal and, most importantly, building a new airport terminal complex and developing the airfield.
