2024 year Design work on the new airport terminal complex began in December.
June 2025 A series of engineering surveys were carried out at the construction site.
October 2025 The project documentation was developed. The project was examined by the General Board of State Expert Review (Glavgosekspertiza).
December 2025 Glavgosekspertiza approved the design for a new airport terminal complex at Gorno-Altaysk Airport.
Visual appearance
The airport terminal will seamlessly combine the region’s natural aesthetics and modern architecture. The airport terminal will feature an open atrium, taking approximately half of the building’s total space. This solution will provide the future airport with plenty of air and light.

The airport terminal building blends smoothly into the natural landscape thanks to its modular roof, which mimics the mountainous terrain. The massive three-beam supports on which the roof rests resemble traditional dwellings of the Altai people.
New transport dominant
With growing tourist and business interest in the region, the renovated airport will create more regular air transportation opportunities within the country and new, including international, routes.
Functionality and comfort
Specialized service areas and lounges will be located on four levels. Passengers will enjoy an all-encompassing modern barrier-free environment, intended to facilitate movement for all visitors.
In March 2025, Gorno-Altaysk Airport, JSC, and the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) signed a concession agreement that will allow for the reconstruction of the runway in Gorno-Altaysk Airport.
