Baggage transportation
Baggage transportation
A passenger’s baggage is accepted for carriage at check-in at the departure airport. The free baggage allowance is set by the airline and specifies the number of pieces and the weight allowed per passenger.
You can find the rules for transportation of baggage and carry-on items, transportation of weapons and ammunition, and the list of items, substances and other devices prohibited or restricted for entry to the transport security area on the airline’s website.
Before boarding, all passengers, their baggage, and their carry-on items must go through mandatory security check.
Please make sure in advance that:
- your baggage does not exceed the airline’s weight limits;
- there are no prohibited items in your baggage or carry-on;
- you have taken everything you need for waiting and for the flight in your carry-on baggage.
Baggage transportation rules
A passenger is entitled to carry baggage within the free allowance at no extra charge. The free baggage allowance, including items carried by the passenger, is set by the airline and stated in your ticket (itinerary receipt).
Baggage exceeding the allowance is considered excess baggage and is charged according to the airline’s fees.
Transportation of oversized baggage, heavy baggage, pets and birds
Oversized baggage, heavy baggage, pets and birds—except for guide dogs accompanying visually impaired passengers— is charged according to the airline’s tariffs. This type of baggage is charged based on its actual weight under the airline’s tariffs, regardless of the passenger’s other items transported as baggage.
The rules for transporting pets can be found on the airline’s website.
Baggage with declared value
A passenger has the right to declare the value of checked baggage. The declared value must be stated separately for each piece of baggage. A fee is charged for carrying baggage with a declared value, as set by the airline.
Each piece of checked baggage must be properly packed to ensure safe handling and transport and to prevent any harm to passengers, crew members, the aircraft or other passengers’ baggage and property.
Baggage that does not meet requirements will not be accepted for carriage.
