Baggage tracing
Baggage tracing
If you find that your baggage is damaged when handed over to you or missing from the carousel, you must immediately contact the Baggage Tracing Desk in the arrivals terminal (Lost & Found service).
What to do if your baggage is damaged or items are missing
Do not leave the baggage claim area and go straight to the Baggage Tracing Desk. A staff member will prepare the necessary report and explain the next steps. To file a claim for damage or missing contents, you must present the baggage, your travel documents (boarding pass and baggage tag), and an ID, after which airport staff will issue a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
What to do if your baggage did not arrive (misrouted or lost)
Do not leave the baggage claim area and contact the Baggage Tracing Desk. Staff will help you complete a missing baggage report, where you will need to describe your suitcase or bag and its contents in as much detail as possible. To file a missing baggage report, you must have:
- your boarding pass, e-ticket;
- the baggage claim tag;
- a valid ID.
Time limits for filing a claim with the airline:
- domestic flights — within 6 months (for delayed, lost, or damaged baggage);
- international flights:
- for missing content or damage — no later than 7 days from the date the baggage is received;
- for delayed baggage — within 21 days from the date of receipt;
- for lost baggage — within 18 months.
If checked baggage is not found within 21 days, it is considered lost, and the passenger will be informed of the claim procedure.
Rush baggage
As soon as your baggage arrives at Gorno-Altaysk Airport, a shipping service agent will contact you. They will inform you of the arrival and provide delivery details. Most airlines deliver such baggage to the passenger’s address at their own expense. You may also collect your baggage at the airport; for office hours, call +7 983 052-07-29. To collect your baggage you must have:
- your boarding pass
- the baggage claim tag
- storage of unclaimed baggage
If checked baggage with a properly issued tag arrives at Gorno-Altaysk Airport but is not collected by the passenger, a shipping service agent with the help of an airline representative will arrange to locate the owner and inform them of how to collect or receive delivery of the baggage.
Unclaimed baggage is stored at the airport for up to 6 months from the date it is placed in storage.
If the baggage remains unclaimed after 6 months, it may be destroyed in accordance with Russian law.
Unclaimed baggage is stored free of charge for the first two days (from 00:00 to 24:00), including the day of arrival of an aircraft that was used for transportation.
After that, storage fees for unclaimed baggage are charged according to airport tariffs and Russian civil law.
